Microblading

Aftercare

Aftercare greatly contributes to the success of your microblading treatment and will promote good healing. It is crucial these instructions are followed to ensure a comfortable healing process and to achieve the best possible results.

After the procedure

Immediately following your procedure, the tattooed area will appear to be darker and bolder in color, more sharply defined or even have a more filled in appearance. This can last up to a week after the treatment while the initial healing process takes place. The treated area may feel a bit like sunburn afterwards but there should be minimal discomfort and minimal redness.

If you take blood thinners on a daily basis, then some slight bleeding may occur. Bruising is rare but can occur. There is usually some tenderness for a few days. Redheads, blondes and fair skin types, will experience more fading and swelling.

The healing process

Allow the freshly feathered eyebrows 7 to 10 days to heal. It is normal for the eyebrows to look patchy during the healing process. Don’t be worried if the strokes have disappeared. It takes the pigment roughly four weeks to surface. During the healing process the eyebrows will appear bold, the colors will drop by 40% and thickness by 15% when healed.

The day of treatment

After the procedure, gently blot the area with clean tissue or clean Q-tip to absorb excess lymph fluid. Do this every 30 minutes for the full day until the oozing has stopped. Removing this fluid prevents hardening of the lymphatic fluids.

Avoid steaming hot baths, showers and saunas for at least 24 hours after treatment.

The first week

Wash

Wash daily to remove bacteria, build up of product and oils, and dead skin. Don't worry, this does not remove the pigment!

Gently wash your eyebrows each morning and night with water and an antibacterial soap like Dial Soap, Cetaphil, or Neutrogena. With a very light touch, use your fingertips to gently cleanse the eyebrows. Rub the area in a smooth motion for 10 seconds and rinse with water ensuring that all soap is rinsed away. To dry, gently pat with a clean tissue. Do not use any cleansing products containing acids (glycolic, lactic, or AHA), or exfoliants.

Moisturize

Apply a rice grain amount of aftercare ointment we provided with a cotton swab and spread it across the treated area. Be sure not to over-apply, as this will suffocate your skin and delay healing. The ointment should be barely noticeable on the skin. NEVER put the ointment on a wet or damp tattoo.

The second week

The aftercare ointment no longer needs to be applied, but continue to gently wash the microbladed area each morning and night.

Avoid sleeping on your face for half a week.

No swimming for at least another week.
