Lips

Aftercare

Healing can take between 4 to 7 days. The lip color pigment may fade by half after the first few days. All procedures must heal, peel and fade.

Heal, peel and fade.

Some swelling and redness can be expected for 24 hours following the procedure. A cold compress helps to reduce any swelling around the lips area. The treated area must be kept clean. No makeup should be applied for several days. Some skin peeling and lightening of the applied color is normal. Regular routines usually can be resumed immediately after the procedure. Typical healing time is between 4 – 7 days.

The day of treatment

Apply the provided A&D ointment with a cotton swab in the treated area for the first 24 hours.

Keep your lips moist at all times, stay hydrated and drink water.

While eating, avoid constantly wiping lips with a napkin and avoid licking your lips as this may impede the healing process.

Using Benadryl and keeping your face vertical can help with swelling, redness or oozing a day following the procedure.

3 days after treatment

Drink through a straw for the first 3 days.

Baths and showers are permitted but do not wash, scrub or touch the treated area. Avoid steaming hot baths, showers and saunas for at least 3 days.

First week after treatment

No soap, cleanser or shampoo on the treated area for one week.

Avoid beef, chicken, seafood and spicy food after treatment for at least a week. The nutrients contained in these foods make it easy for your lips to darken, hindering the healing process.

Second week after treatment

No swimming for at least 2 weeks.

Minimize exposure to the sun for at least 2 weeks.

Do not bleach your teeth or smoke while your lips are healing.

Important reminders.

Do not pick the dry healing skin tissue or you may remove the pigment color.

Continue your anti-viral medication, if you are using any, until the end of prescription.

Stay out of intense sunlight for a month. Afterwards, it is recommended to wear SPF over your lip color to help prevent the color from fading prematurely.

If you use Retin-A, do not apply any close to the treated area for 30 days. It may cause the area to peel and lighten.

We recommended eating carrots, yogurt, and pineapple — they can help heal faster.
